Our panellists
Dr Sarah Boyle is an Australian Research Council DECRA Research Fellow at the Centre for Cancer Biology at the University of South Australia. Her research focusses on the mechanisms and interplay between mechanical force, mechanotransduction, and various aspects of the tumour microenvironment in progression and metastasis of breast cancer.
Dr Zeyad D Nassar is a Department of Defense-USA research fellow at the South Australian immunoGENomics Cancer Institute (SAiGNCI) at the University of Adelaide. His research projects are dedicated to exploring pathways driving prostate cancer progression and drug resistance, with a focus on metabolism.
Dr Michael Penniment is a radiation oncologist at Icon Cancer Centre and Director of Radiation Oncology at Royal Adelaide Hospital, and Director of the Australian Bragg Centre for Proton Therapy, SAHMRI. Michael is involved in a number of research projects, with a focus on planning and developing new radiation therapy facilities, improving indigenous cancer care, and quality of life during cancer treatment.
Associate Professor Erin Symonds manages the research at Bowel Health Services in the Flinders Centre for Innovation in Cancer. Her research focus is on cancer biomarkers and prevention. She leads her team in developing non-invasive diagnostic techniques for detection of colorectal cancer, improving screening options for people in the community, and monitoring for risk of cancer recurrence after surgery.
